5-lipoxygenase-activating protein (FLAP) is involved in the synthesis of leukotrienes. Under certain conditions, FLAP knockout mice exhibit reduced inflammatory response, edema, response to platelet-activating factor-induced shock, and collagen-induced arthritis. These mice can be used to investigate FLAP modulators and their effect on any of the aforementioned conditions.
